David Foster

David Foster was born in Fredericksburg, Texas, in 1953, as David Weinheimer (wine-high-mer).  In 1970, when he was a junior in high school, he began his radio career as an on-air personality at KNAF Radio.

In 1972, he moved to San Antonio and started work on-the-air at KEEZ-FM.  That’s when the name change happened. He was told by Station Manager, Kahn Hamon, “Your name is David Foster and you go on at Midnight.”

Five years later, David joined KKYX Radio … taking over the 30-hour, crazy-shifts weekend slot vacated by B. Bailey Brown when he went into sales.

David spent the next 15 years at KKYX working Swing shifts and serving as production manager. For 6 years of those years, he was half of the popular “David and Pat” Morning Show with veteran announcer Pat Tallman.

In the late 70’s and early 80’s David was the male voice on the Sears South Central Texas Radio and TV spots.

In 1992 he moved to Clear Channel where he worked Production on WOAI Radio … and in 1994, took over as Production Director for KJ-97.

In 1997 David returned to his Hill Country roots, working first at “The Ranch” Radio station in Kerrville as Program Director and Morning Drive Personality … and then returning to KFAN/KNAF in Fredericksburg in Sales in 1998.

David retired from radio in 2012.
