Mary Lanoue-Gers fell in love with radio as a young girl listening to KTSA. She attended San Antonio College to pursue an Associate’s degree in Fine Arts with a focus on Radio-TV-Film. It was 1967 and Mary was one of only two women in the department.
Mary began her radio career in the traffic and continuity department at KTSA in 1973. After 10 years in traffic, Mary left KTSA to try her hand at sales at KONO-KITY. Her 40-year sales career would include stops in television and in print.
In 1992, Mary was recruited to sell for KISS-FM where she would remain for the next 28 years becoming a “rock specialist” working with some of the best music talent in the business. After Cox Media purchased KISS and six other local stations, Mary sold for the entire group setting the all-time sales record for the most overall advertising totals for KISS radio.
Mary was inducted into the Cox Media President’s Circle four times for exceeding her sales goals, the most of any Cox salesperson in San Antonio. In 2019 she was a Radio Ink Radio Wayne Finalist in the Streetfighter Category and the Top Digital Sales seller in the San Antonio cluster.
Mary served on the Board and as Co-President of the San Antonio Chapter of the Alliance of Women in Media, and on the Advisory Boards of the RTF Department at San Antonio College, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and the Traffic Jam Coalition. She heads the steering committee for the 2022 San Antonio Radio Centennial.
